One For The Road a vampire short story

Well here's a short story by Stephen King involving vampires in the state of Maine. This short story is basically an extension of the vampire novel King wrote called Salem's Lot which in turn was his attempt to place Bram Stoker's Dracula in the United States during the 1970s in Maine. It's one of King's better works and is recommendable for an autumn read in the late hours of the day with crisp October air creeping into your room.

Shirley Jackson's The Lottery OTR

Shirley Jackson's short story The Lottery is most likely her most well-read and influential piece of fiction. It has inspired and psychologically creeped out many readers and writers through the recent decades. Most notably, prolific horror-meister Stephen King. Mr. King wrote a made-for-TV miniseries called The Storm Of The Century in 1999. Its story is basically a modern retelling of The Lottery with King's own small twists and his home state of Maine thrown into the mix.

HP Lovecraft's At The Mountains Of Madness

A nice, yet relatively short, dramatized version of H. P. Lovecraft's novella At The Mountains Of Madness. Set in the barren, frozen wastelands of Antartica. Lovecraft was inspired by Poe's own story set in this area of th world. This story also qualifies as part of the Cthulhu Mythos.
